PRIVACY.
This policy explains what information is collected when you use ukriotmap.live, who collects it and why. The site is run by UK Riot Map. There are no user accounts.
Google AdSense
This site shows advertising from Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads, to measure them and, where you consent, to personalise them based on your visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites on the internet.
Visitors in the UK, the European Economic Area and Switzerland are asked for consent through Google's consent message before personalised ads or non-essential advertising cookies are used. You can change your choice at any time from the privacy and cookie settings link that the consent message provides. You can also opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings or across many providers at youronlinechoices.eu. Google explains how it uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to count page views and see which features people use, such as filters and map selections. Google Analytics sets cookies and receives information such as the pages you view, your approximate location, device and browser. We use this only in aggregate to improve the site. See Google's privacy policy.
Messages you send us
If you use the contact form, we store your message and, if you give them, your name and email address on our server so we can read and reply. To limit spam, the server records a one-way hash of your IP address combined with the date; your IP address itself is not stored. We keep messages for up to 12 months and then delete them, unless they relate to an ongoing correction or legal matter. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us.
Services your browser connects to
Pages load resources directly from other services, which receive your IP address and browser details as part of a normal web request:
- OpenFreeMap provides the map tiles (privacy policy).
- News publishers' image servers provide article thumbnails. No referrer is sent with these requests.
- YouTube and Vimeo load only if you choose to play a video.
- cdnjs (Cloudflare) provides the map software, and Cloudflare also carries traffic to this site.
News headlines and summaries, which contain no information about visitors, are sent to Anthropic for automated relevance checks.
Technical logs
Our web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, time, page requested, browser) to run and secure the site. They are kept for a short period and are not used to identify visitors.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, object to its use, or ask us to restrict it. Contact us through the contact form. For information held by Google, use Google's own tools linked above. If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
We may update this policy; the date at the top shows when it last changed.
