Drone Sightings: common questions

Which airports have closed because of drones?

Every airport closure or suspension reported in the last 90 days is listed above with its date and sources. Copenhagen, Oslo, Munich and Brussels were among the airports that halted flights after drone sightings in 2025.

Who is flying the drones?

Often nobody knows. Where a report says who is suspected, the card shows that claim in the report’s own words. Some sightings turn out to be hobby flyers or mistaken reports.

What should I do if I see a drone near an airport?

Call the police on 101, or 999 if there is an immediate danger. Flying a drone near an airport without permission is a criminal offence in the UK.

Are drone sightings over UK bases new?

Drones were reported over several RAF and US Air Force bases in eastern England in November 2024. Any reported in the last 90 days are listed above.

How is this tracker made?

Every five minutes the server reads news searches in four languages. An AI model (Claude Haiku) keeps only reports of real sightings over sensitive sites, translates the headline and names the site and place. Reports on the same site are grouped into one sighting. The AI can be wrong, so every report links to its publisher.
