Missiles, airstrikes and drones, as they are reported
Live strikes map: common questions
Where are the latest airstrikes and missile attacks?
The map shows every missile, airstrike and drone attack reported in the War Room’s news in the last 24 hours, worldwide, and the timeline beside it lists them newest first. Strikes in the last three hours burn on the map.
How live is this map?
The server reads the news every five minutes and the page checks for new strikes every minute while it is open. New strikes ripple on the map and slide into the top of the timeline.
How do you tell a missile from an airstrike or a drone?
From the report: the War Room’s AI model marks drone attacks, and the headline’s words (missile, rocket, airstrike, bombing, drone and so on) split the rest. A report that says neither is shown as an airstrike.
Does the map show every strike?
No. It shows strikes that news outlets report and name a place for. Many strikes are never reported, some are reported by several outlets, and some reports are later corrected. A report naming only a country is placed at the country’s centre.
How is the map made?
From the War Room’s reports: news searches in nine languages, checked by an AI model (Claude Haiku), which sorts each report by type and place. The AI can be wrong, so every report links to its publisher.
