Figures are street-level crimes recorded by police within one mile of the centre point we use for each place, so they cover the central area, not the whole town or city. They count crimes, not people, and are not a rate per resident: busy centres with many visitors will look high. Crime locations are approximate. Police Scotland does not publish to this source, and a force that has not published for a month shows no figures for it. Source: data.police.uk.
